Allgemeine Informationen

HelMSIC consists localy of Local Committees and functionaly of Standing Committees. It is managed by the General Assembly and the Executive Board.

Local Committees
HelMSIC consists of 7 local committees, one according to each city with a Medical School. These LCs have a relative autonomy, meaning that they can be responsible for programs and activities, as long as these reflect the goals and philosophy of HelMSIC in general.

Standing Committees
For best control of all activities in local as well as national level, but also for a functional collaboration with relevant organisations abroad, 6 special standing committees have been founded according to the principles of IFMSA, each of which is responsible for a specific area of action. These Standing Committees are:

SCOPE - Standing Committee on Professional Exchanges: This committee is responsible for Professional Exchanges (clerkships) of medical students.
SCORE - Standing Committee on Research Exchanges: This committee is responsible for Research Exchanges of medical students.
SCOPH - Standing Committee on Public Health: This committee is responsible for the organisation of programs for sensitization and promotion of public health.
SCOME - Standing Committee on Medical Education: This is concerned with issues about medical education, such as dialogue on effectiveness of educational systems in many countries as well as the possibility of their evolution in something better.
SCORA - Standing Committee on Reproductive health including AIDS: This committee is responsible for organising programs of prevention and information providing about sexually transmitted diseases and issues concerning the health care of women.
SCORP - Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace: This committee is taking measures about the health care of vulnerable social groups always in cooperation with other NGOs aiming in avoiding wars as well as destructions.
For every standing committee, a national officer is assigned, who is in direct contact with his colleagues in other countries and in the local committees, and several local officers who are responsible for all local activities that take place.

The General Assembly
The General Assembly takes place once a year or extraordinarily if there is a special need. It is the highest decision making boody and where the Executive Board and National Officers for the coming year are elected. Each Local Committee takes part in the GA with representatives whose number is depended on the total number of medical students in the represending medical school.

The Executive Board
The EB of HelMSIC consists of the following people:

The President
The Vice-President for Internal Affairs
The Vice-President for External Affairs
The Treasurer
The General Secretary

Every Local Committee also takes part in the EB decisions with one vote.

The role of the EB is to represent HelMSIC nationwide as well as worldwide, to take care of the responsibilities of HelMSIC and to take decisions concerning the well-being of the organisation as well as the function of the local committees, intervening and providing help when needed.
